Dr. Aasgaard has been reading Tarot cards and practicing the mystical and psychological arts on a local, national and international basis since 1986. From 1993-1998, while he and his wife, Elise, were working on their Ph.D.s, they lived outside New Orleans. During this time, Aasgaard read Tarot in Chicago, St. Louis, Molene, Davenport, Phoenix, Santa Fe, Taos, Denver, Boulder, San Diego, and San Francisco in the United States; in Barcelona, Seville, the Alhambra in Granada, and Ronda in Spain; in Rome, Florence and Venice in Italy. |
![]() In 1986, he was one of the first 12 readers on Jackson Square. By 1992, when this painting was made, he was among 24 full-time readers on the Square licensed by the City of New Orleans. As Vice President of the Jackson Square Psychics Association he helped work with the city to try regulate the readers. Unfortunately, the ordinance passed by the City Council was struck down. At this time only the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution regulates activity in the public space that is Jackson Square. There is basically one rule regarding space: first come, first serve. Professor Purple continues to believe that reasonable regulations should be made to ensure tourists satisfaction with the entertainment offered. Licensing only readers who pay their taxes and have no complaints would go a long way toward eliminating the undesirable elements (homeless, vampire-wannabes, drifters, gutter-punks, etc). |
